Drama as PDP, APC appoint Wike into campaign councils
Confusion as the All Progressives Party and Peoples Democratic Party appointed Nyesome Wike, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, into their Bayelsa governorship election poll campaign councils. Wike was appointed as a member of the campaign council for the November governorship election in Bayelsa state. The development comes as Debo Ologunagba, spokesperson of PDP on August 2, had listed Wike as part of the campaign team for the Bayelsa guber. Wike, a former Rivers State governor, was recently sworn in as a minister by President Bola Tinubu and has resigned as a member of the Peoples Democratic PDP. He fell out with the PDP in the lead-up to the February 25 presidential election. Consequently, a circular from the ruling APC listed Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State as the chairman of the party’s governorship campaign council in Bayelsa with Defence Minister Abubakar Badaru; Senate President Godsdwill Akpabio and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume as co-chairmen.
